ACCR Bus Tour 2002
tremendous success!

ACCR culminated its old-fashioned yellow school bus tour of 2002 with a successful finale on Nov. 4th as citizens and leaders from across the state converged in Montgomery for a rally on the Capitol steps. Reform One, ACCR’s vehicle for change, began its journey with the purpose of promoting constitutional reform around the state and campaigning for the passage of Amendment One. We proceeded to travel through more than 35 counties across Alabama, with stops in every major region of the state, from the Gulf Coast to the Wiregrass and Plains of Southeast Alabama to the Black Belt to the Hill Country of North Alabama to the I-65 and I-20 corridors through the heart of the state.

Along the way, through educational forums at high schools, seminars on college campuses, rallies in public parks, and appearances in parades and candidate expos, we reached thousands of new Alabamians in our fight for a new constitution, and the extensive TV, radio, and newspaper coverage we generated reached tens of thousands more. We had great reception everywhere we went, and the tour proved to be a perfect way to both energize our existing supporters and pick up plenty of new ones as well. At the bus stops we were able to distribute bus tour t-shirts, Amendment One yard signs, stickers, books, brochures, and leaflets. We invited supporters to sign their names directly on the bus during our stops, and we gathered the signatures of two U.S. Congressmen, Alabama’s Secretary of State, several state senators and representatives, numerous county commissioners, city councilmen, judges, mayors, and countless concerned citizens. So many, in fact, that it is now hard to find any open spaces to sign.

We would like to thank the many people that helped us along the way and we hope everyone enjoyed the bus tour as much as we did.

The Bus Crew,
Kevin Garrison & David Perry.
