WHEREAS, The Kiwanis Club of Birmingham is a civic organization, and as such,
is keenly interested in the well-being of the greater Birmingham and Alabama
communities, and

The Kiwanis Club of Birmingham is the world’s largest, with over 500 members
from leadership ranks of the greater Birmingham area, and

The Kiwanis Club of Birmingham believes Alabama’s 1901 Constitution
is a hindrance to the progress of the state and its citizens, and

The Kiwanis Club of Birmingham believes the welfare of our city and state will be
very positively impacted by the reform of the 1901 Constitution.

Now therefore, the Board of Directors of The Kiwanis Club of Birmingham urges
the Honorable Governor Siegelman, and the Honorable Members of the Alabama Legislature
and the citizens of the State of Alabama to take all steps necessary and appropriate to ensure
the reform of the Alabama Constitution, and to do so with all deliberate haste.
