WHEREAS,
the Mountain Brook City Schools Board of Education recognizes that
the 1901 Alabama Constitution inhibits responsive government at all
levels; and
WHEREAS,
the 1901 Constitution particularly restricts adequate funding for
public education; and
WHEREAS,
quality education is critical to attracting good jobs and inspiring
economic development; and
WHEREAS,
the children of Alabama deserve the best public education system as
our state enters the 21st century;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED
that the Mountain Brook Board of Education endorses and gives its
full support to writing a state constitution which will provide improved
public education.
