Whereas,
the Rotary Club of Tuscaloosa recognizes the need for a modern state
constitution
that contributes to a foundation of effective self-government, enhanced
economic opportunities
and progress, and excellence in all levels of education in Alabama.
There, Be It Resolved
that the Rotary Club of Tuscaloosa expresses its strong support
for efforts to revise and replace the Alabama Constitution of 1901
with a 21st century framework
that contributes to Alabamas future development and progress
and that allows government
at all levels to effectively address issues and challenges that
face our great state.
Furthermore,
we encourage the Governor and the Alabama Legislature, in partnership
with the Citizens of Alabama, to adopt as a priority reformation
of Alabamas 1901 Constitution
to ensure that constitution reform becomes a reality in the State
of Alabama; and encourages
all citizens to become active in this process.
Adopted the 4th day of March, 2002,
