2009 High School Education Contest Winner

The ACCR Foundation is pleased to announce the winners of the 2009 High School Education Contest.

Essay Category

First place -Megan Convington / Grissom High School - Huntsville

Second Place - Patrick Rooney / Hoover High School - Hoover

Meagan was awarded $500 and as part of the matching funds program, Grissom High was also awarded $500. Patrick received $250, with Hoover High receiving the same amount.

As was shown in the work that Lewis Lehe contributed to the Constitutional Reform Movement with his excellent “It’s a Thick Book” documentary, high school students are creative and passionate about issues.  The goal of the ACCR Foundation’s High School Education Contest is to give high school students throughout Alabama an opportunity to express themselves and, in the process, learn more about the 1901 Constitution.  Contest entries were based on the documentary and written around the theme, "Who Needs a New Consitution?"
