During the 2010 Legislative Session two Resolutions and one Bill were introduced. In the House, HJR 54 was sponsored by Speaker Pro Tem Demetrius Newton and co-sponsored by 24 additional representatives. In the Senate, SJR 42 was sponsored by Senator Ted Little and co-sponsored by 17 additional senators.

In the Senate, Senator Rodger Smitherman sponsored a Bill, SH177. All pieces of legislation, if passed by the respective Houses, would have allowed the people to vote to hold a constitutional convention.

Legislation will be offered again in the 2011 Legislative Session. Let your legislators know you want them to support this legislation to call for a constitutional convention.

Personal calls to your legislators are the best form of communication. Call them on the weekends when they are home. Your voice makes more difference to them than anything else because they know you will elect them in November....or not! Letters to Legislators [Sample Letter]
Write to your legislators and tell them you want them to vote in favor of legislation that will allow the people to vote for a constitutional convention.  Look up the address of your legislators at www.legislature.state.al.us.  Be polite, let them know you appreciate their service.  Shorter is better.  Keep to the issues and not personalities.  Be specific.  Do not threaten.
